Connecticut Firefighters Battle Two Alarm Blaze

At 0220 hours Derby FireComm Received a report of a fire in the St. Mary's Church rectory on Elizabeth St.

At 0220 hours Derby FireComm Received a report of a fire in the St. Mary's Church rectory on Elizabeth St. Box # 223 was struck, Asst Chief Coppolo arrived within minutes reporting a 3 story brick building with fire showing from the 1st floor "D" side.

Members of Engine 11 stretched a 1 3/4 line with the help of members from Rescue 18. A second alarm was ordered by Chief Parker at 0245 requesting 2 additional Engine Company's and Tower-7 from Shelton Fire.

The fire did extend to the 2nd floor and was quickly extinguished by members of Engine 12. Members of Truck 15 performed Vertical Ventilation as well as Salvage operations.

One Firefighter suffered minor injuries. The Priest, who is the company chaplain for Engines 11 & 12 and his dog escaped without injury. The Derby Fire Marshal
