House Fire in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana

Approximately 15 vehicles and 50 members comprised the Ohio Task Force to make the first out-of-state response in Ohio history. Lessons were learned about the importance of the National Response Plans and NIMS compliance.

These photos were taken in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana on October 6th, after Hurricane Rita.

St. Bernard Parish Deputy Chief Heinz operated on scene.

A Task Force from Ohio was assisting local firefighters with several fires and numerous other relief details in the parish.

St. Bernard Parish had all 10 of its stations damaged beyond use, and 8 of 12 fire apparatus damaged.

Approximately 15 vehicles and 50 members comprised the Ohio Task Force to make the first out-of-state response in Ohio history. Lessons were learned about the importance of the National Response Plans and NIMS compliance.

Nearly all of the 108 St. Bernard Parish firefighters lost all of their personal belongings.

Ohio Task Force personnel assisted the parish firefighters with their personal recovery needs and friendship building.

The work continues to this day.
