17th Annual Denton County, Texas Firefighter Memorial Service

Denton County Fire Department members gathered on Sunday, October 16, 2005, to pay tribute to their brother and sister firefighters who have paid the ultimate price by sacrificing their lives in the line of duty.

Denton County Fire Department members gathered on Sunday, October 16, 2005, to pay tribute to their brother and sister firefighters who have paid the ultimate price by sacrificing their lives in the line of duty.

The service began at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church in Denton. Denton Fire Department Chief Ross Chadwick was the keynote speaker at this year's memorial service.

After the service, members of local departments formed a processional line and walked to the Denton County Firefighters Memorial Park located in the 200 Block of West Mulberry St. Krum Fire Department Chaplain Ed Gatlin spoke to the members at the park.

Each fire department was called by name and laid a red carnation at the base of the memorial to honor those who have given their lives over the years.

Denton County is served by 27 fire departments made up of volunteer, combination and career.
