At 8:38 pm, units from the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) and surrounding areas were dispatched to a reported townhouse fire in the 200 block of 9th Street.

The first arriving engine company found fire showing from the second floor window, and also possibly coming through the roof. With this information, the working fire dispatch was struck, which summons a BLS ambulance and a medic unit, as well as command officers.

Acting LVFD Chief John Maher arrived shortly thereafter, and established the 9th Street Command in the parking lot of the old Laurel VFD firehouse.

The fire was knocked quickly, thanks to aggressive interior firefighting.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
