On September 24, 2005, the Bradford City Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire with possible entrapment at 8:34 pm.

Tower 1 and Engine 1 responded with five firefighters under the command of Captain Mike Perkins. Upon arrival, the mother and three children were outside.

With the first floor fully engulfed, Captain Perkins requested a second alarm.

Engine 2, two ambulances, a paramedic unit and Fire Chief William McCormack responded.

The Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department responded with an engine and manpower for stand by at Central Fire Station.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack.

Using two one and three quarter inch attack lines, firefighters held the fire to the first floor of the structure.

The first floor of the home was gutted, while the second floor suffered extensive heat and smoke damage. Firefighters were on scene for two hours and fifteen minutes.

There were no injuries. Initially, there was a grease fire on the stove, and the occupant attempted to extinguish the fire with paper towels.

The paper towels were placed in a garbage can, and the fire spread from there.
