At 4:40 am, Sunday, June 8, 2003, the Joshua VFD was dispatched to a structure fire on Taylor Street in their city.

Upon arrival, they found a double-wide mobile home fully involved and threatening a carport and 2 vehicles at the neighbor's place.

The Joshua Chief called for mutual aid from the Keene Volunteer Fire Dept. and Burleson Fire Dept. Initially, the attack concentrated on the end of the structure threatening the vehicles.

On the first engine was the Joshua Chief and three fire-fighters. The Chief got the lines charged, then pulled the 2 1/2 and hooked one length to a fire hydrant across the street, which enabled him to use the truck turret gun to start knocking the fire down.

The Burleson Fire Dept. arrived with their engine and three firemen followed shortly with 2 engines and 4 firefighters from the Keene Volunteer Fire Dept.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal's office for possible arson. The investigation is due to several suspicious circumstances, one of which is that this unit was a rental unit which had been vacant for a month.
