Dayton, Ohio Firefighters Extricate Driver

On April 15, 2003, at 13:14 hours the Dayton, Ohio Fire Department dispatched Engine 9, Ladder 11, Ladder 13, Rescue 13, West District Chief-1, North Senior Medic-1, Medic 14 and Safety 4 to an auto accident with someone trapped at South Bound I-75 at the I-35 interchange. Train 6, a firefighter/paramedic, was in the area and responded.

On his arrival he found a car into the rear of a semi-trailer with victim tapped in the auto. A nurse who was on her way to work at Sycamore Hospital was already on scene and began giving care. Crews then began extraction efforts. Dayton Fire Department crews did an excellent and quick extraction on a difficult accident.

The lone male victim was freed in 10 minutes of crews arrival. The victim was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with severe head injuries. The victim is currently listed in critical condition.
