Peabody, Mass. Firefighters Fight 5 Alarm Inferno in Sub-Zero Weather

Peabody, Mass. firefighters led by Chief Steve Pasdon and Deputy Paul Lynch battled a 5 Alarm inferno in sub-zero weather on Friday morning February 14,2002.

The fire located at 92 Foster St.destoyed the Peabody Collision Center and Oasis Auto Sales. Also suffering heavy smoke and water damage were Russo's Kitchen's and the Driftwood Diner both located next to the fire building.

The first alarm was received at Peabody Fire Hq. at 1:11 A.M. Deputy Lynch arriving on scene shortly afterwards ordered an immediate 3rd Alarm to be struck due to the tremendous amount of progress the fire had made. The 4th and 5th alarms follwed in rapid sucession.

Mutual Aid from over a dozen North Shore communities assisted or covered in Peabody during the height of the fire.

Thier were no serious injuries reported.The fire was placed under control at approximatley 6 A.M. Total damage was estimated at $1million dollars to the buildings and contents.
