Pennsylvania Fire Departments Knock Down Two-Alarm Apartment Blaze

Clearfield County, PA -- At approximately 12:05 AM on March 15, 2005, Clearfield County companies 14, 22 and Centre County companies 11, 12 were dispatched to a 14 box at the Sunny Slope Apartment Complex for a dwelling fire.

Clearfield County, PA -- At approximately 12:05 AM on March 15, 2005, Clearfield County companies 14, 22 and Centre County companies 11, 12 were dispatched to a 14 box at the Sunny Slope Apartment Complex for a dwelling fire.

Chief 14 was first to arrive, reporting a working fire and requesting a second alarm. With fire through the roof in the center of the structure, Engine 14 entered the complex and attacked the fire with 2 1/2 preconnect. Next in Engine 11 caught the hydrant at the entrance to the complex and laid 800 feet of 5 inch to supply sides A & B of the operation.

An aggressive interior attack was not able to stop the fire spreading throughout the common attic. All crews were evacuated and master streams from Quint 12, Truck 12 and Truck 22 knocked down the bulk of the fire.

Interior crews returned to finish the job and complete extensive salvage and overhaul in the 5 apartments damaged in the blaze.

Nine departments worked in 14 degree temps with the last companies being released at 4:30 AM.
