On February 19, 2005, the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department in West Virginia was dispatched to a vehicle on fire at the 131 mile marker on I-64. Command one and two responded along with Engine 1 and Tanker 2. The 911 center recieved numerous calls and relayed information to fire department units en route.

On arrival, Command 2 confirmed a half-involved Lincoln Town Car. Eng 1 arrived, pulling one 1 3/4 handline.

The fire was contained to the engine and front passenger areas. The firefighters were able to save the family's luggage and help transport them to their destination, which was three miles away.

There were no injuries and I-64 was reopened after a half hour.

The cause of the blaze was a burst hose line on the transmission, which sprayed oil on the exhaust system.
