OCALA, Fla. - Firefighters arrived at a two-story, 10,000 square-foot commercial building the morning of Weds., May 26 to find heavy smoke and visible flames inside the structure.
The building, located at 2801 Southwest 20th St., is partially occupied by the Creative Kids II day care, where the fire is believed to have originated.
Ocala Fire Rescue was dispatched shortly before 1:30 a.m. and arrived within a few minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Extensive smoke damage was evident throughout the building. Twenty-four firefighters fought the blaze and there were no injuries. Firefighters remained on scene for more than three hours.
