Daytona Beach FD Responds to Residence Fire

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Firefighters from the Daytona Beach Fire Department responded to the 700 block of Davis Street around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, May 16 for a two-story residential structure fire. Initial reports on scene included heavy, dark smoke coming from the kitchen area in the second-floor apartment of the wood-frame structure.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Firefighters from the Daytona Beach Fire Department responded to the 700 block of Davis Street around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, May 16 for a two-story residential structure fire.

Initial reports on scene included heavy, dark smoke coming from the kitchen area in the second-floor apartment of the wood-frame structure.

Upon arrival of DBFD firefighters, heavy smoke and flames had vented through the roof in the rear bedroom of the structure on the southeast corner of the building. Firefighters conducted a search of the structure but found no occupants inside. DBFD firefighters made an aggressive interior attack and were able to confine the fire to the room of origin.

At the time of this writing the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office was conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Due to the heavy damage from the smoke and flames, two residents, one male and one female, are currently receiving assistance from Red Cross. There were no injuries reported on scene.
