Ocala, Fla. Firefighters Rescue Burned Civilian, Save Cat

Ocala firefighters responded to a residential structure fire the evening of Weds., May 12, to find flames coming from the one-story house. Firefighters forced entry and found a burned civilian, and removed her to the outside. Paramedics began emergency care, then transferred her to an ambulance. She sustained serious injuries in the fire.

Ocala firefighters responded to a residential structure fire the evening of Weds., May 12, to find flames coming from the one-story house.

Firefighters forced entry and found a burned civilian, and removed her to the outside. Paramedics began emergency care, then transferred her to an ambulance. She sustained serious injuries in the fire.

A cat was also found inside and removed. Firefighters administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (C.P.R.) and oxygen, and the cat was revived. The animal was then transferred to animal control to be taken to a veterinarian.

Ocala Fire Rescue responded to the call at 8:59 p.m. and arrived two minutes later. The fire was located at 615 Southeast 29th Terrace. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
