A fast moving kitchen fire left three families homeless on February 6, 2005.

First arriving units from the Paulsboro, NJ Fire Department found heavy fire coming from the rear of a large 2-1/2 story frame duplex on West Jefferson St. While a second alarm was requested, firefighters made a interior attack with two 1/34 lines. Soon they were forced to withdraw, as the blaze had spread to the second floor and attic of the old frame home.

A third and fourth alarm were struck. Heavy fire was also now showing from many windows and through the roof.

Ladder companies from Woodbury and Gibbstown were setup in front and side of the heavily involved structure.

It took firefighters over two hours to bring this fire under control. Many of the 70 firefighters on the scene missed watching the Super Bowl game due to the long overhaul and wetting down hot spots.
