Firefighters Participate in Fund-Raiser Bike Ride From Arizona to Florida

On Feb 4, 2005, a group a firefighters arrived in Tallahassee, Florida after a month-long ride to raise money for the hurricane victims of 2004. The riders started in Lake Havasu, Arizona, and rode the southwest, across Texas, and on into Florida.

The riders started in Lake Havasu, Arizona, and rode the southwest, across Texas, and on into Florida. The team was organized by retired FDNY firefighter Dan Rowen and was made up of Houston, Texas firefighters Robert Branch and Jason Davnir, Philidelphia, Pa. firefighter Gerry Shaffer, Los Angeles firefighter Troy Case and Little Rock, Arkansas Firefighter Brian Quinn.

The Tallahassee Fire Department met the riders at the Leon County line and escorted them to the main fire station. The escort included TFD Truck4, Tallahassee Police Department motorcyle, Leon County EMS, and members of Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club Station 8.

Upon arriving at TFD station 1, the riders were given a traditional firefighter's meal, shower, and a bed. The riders raised nearly $10,000 in support of the Hurricane disaster victims.

The members of Tallahassee Fire Department would like to thank the riders for their dedication to those in need, regardless of location.
