N.C. Firefighters Attack Barn Fire

 Edgecombe County, N.C. firefighters made a quick stop on a barn fire shortly after noon on May 1.  Firefighters from West Edgecombe, Lewis Community and the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to the structure fire on Bullock School Road. Crews found a large controlled burn in a vacant field at the back of a farm house. A large barn was on fire, and winds had shifted, sending sparks on to a two-story frame barn.

Edgecombe County, N.C. firefighters made a quick stop on a barn fire shortly after noon on May 1.  Firefighters from West Edgecombe, Lewis Community and the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to the structure fire on Bullock School Road.

Crews found a large controlled burn in a vacant field at the back of a farm house. A large barn was on fire, and winds had shifted, sending sparks on to a two-story frame barn.

There was heavy fire showing as firefighters made a quick attack with two 1 3/4 inch lines. They were quickly backed up with additional lines and manpower, and were able to save the building.

Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours overhauling and checking for hot spots.
