On February 6, 2005, the Charlottte County, Florida Fire/EMS responded to a report of multiple vehicles on fire at the scene of a police pursuit.
On arrival, engine-2 found two Charlotte County Sherrif Department patrol cars well involved and the suspects minivan also beginning to burn. The fire apparently started when the patrol cars cornered the suspect's vehicle in a grassy field in a residential neighborhood of Port Charlotte. The vehicles apparently ignited the dry grass and were unable to be moved when they all became stuck in the sandy soil. The incident was handled by two engines, one truck and one battalion chief.
