At approximately 1 PM on December 27 the Fort Worth Fire Department received notice of a residential structure fire in the 3400 block of Cimmarron, on the west side of Fort Worth.

Units arrived to find a one story brick residence with fire showing. Several firemen were waiting for water in the front yard when the fire flashed over. A few seconds later the hoses were charged with water and units began an interior attack from 3 angles, the front, rear and garage entrance. This fire quickly went to 2 alarms.

An elderly female resident had to be transported by Care Flight to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. While being assisted to a neighbors home she was heard saying the fire started by a candle in one of the bedrooms.

A sizeable crowd gathered to watch the firemen work as the street became crowded with firefighting equipment. First on were Quint and Engine 23. The other Fort Worth Units which responded were BN 5, and BN 2, Tech 2, EMS 2, Engine 30, Engine 8, Engine 16, Engine 32, Engine 18 Marshall 99, Red Cross, and the Red Hats Canteen.

The structure appears to be a total loss.
