The incident shown is a structure fire that occurred in unincorporated El Paso County, Colorado on December 6, 2002.

The fire was reported at 5:40am, and initial reports to 911 indicated the structure was already fully-involved. The initial response to the fire was five fire departments operating under an automatic-aid arrangement.

The Wescott Fire Department was the primary department, with automatic aid from the Woodmoor-Monument Fire Department, the Larkspur Fire Department, the Palmer Lake Fire Department, and the Black Forest Fire Department.

The structure was a 7,000 sq.ft. log home, valued at approx. $1 million, that was 2 weeks from being occupied. The area where the fire occurred has no municipal water supply, so a tanker-shuttle had to be established.

The fire was brought under-control in several hours. An investigation by myself (for the Wescott Fire Department), with assistance from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation determined that the fire was caused by the improper disposal of linseed oil soaked rags used by the homeowner.

There were no injuries reported. A Flight for Life helicopter from Colorado Springs was utilized for my aerial photos of the scene.
