Poughkeepsie Firefighters Battle 3 Alarm Blaze

On Wednesday, December 4th, at 1054 hours ,City of Poughkeepsie firefighters received the first of many 911 calls reporting a structure fire in an occupied dwelling.

On Wednesday, December 4th, at 1054 hours ,City of Poughkeepsie firefighters received the first of many 911 calls reporting a structure fire in an occupied dwelling.

The first engine co. arrived within 2 minutes of dispatch and reported a working fire with possible persons trapped.

An aggressive search of all 16 apartments found that all persons had escaped.

A second alarm was transmitted at 1104 hours and exterior operations were begun to knock down the main body of fire.

A third alarm was transmitted at 1116 hours to cover the City's' fire stations with mutual aid.

The fire was brought under control at 1156Hrs. Over 30 people were displaced and relocated by the Red Cross.

Forty-two firefighters responded and remained on the scene until 1512 hours. There were no injuries.
