On Sunday, October 3, 2004, around 6:00 AM, the City of Clifton Fire Department was called to 17 Crooks Avenue on a report of a house fire.

The address turned out to be in the Paterson district, therefore the Paterson Fire Department was also called to the scene. Upon arrival, fire was throughout the second floor of the dwelling.

Both departments fought the blaze for more than an hour before getting it under control. The firefighters did an excellent job saving exposer B, which nearly ignited.

Currently, the fire is under investigation by the City of Paterson. All occupants are believed to have gotten out of the building safely.
