New Jersey Officers Rescue People

On Saturday August 8, at 11:27, a box was transmitted in Bellmawr, Camden County, for a dwelling fire at 269 Walnut Ave. Camden County Communications advised crews of fire from the second floor with possible people trapped inside.  Police arrived and confirmed a working fire.  Two officers entered the dwelling to find two occupants trapped.  One person was wheelchair bound.  The other needed assistance with her oxygen tank.  Police were able to get both occupants out of the dwelling to awaiting EMS.

Police arrived and confirmed a working fire.  Two officers entered the dwelling to find two occupants trapped.  One person was wheelchair bound.  The other needed assistance with her oxygen tank.  Police were able to get both occupants out of the dwelling to awaiting EMS. 

EMS treated them for smoke inhalation and burns, and transported to Cooper Hospital where they were listed in serious condition. 

Crews stretched and placed a line in operation. Searches were negative as it was confirmed all occupants were out of the dwelling. 

The fire was placed under control at 11:53. 

No firefighter injuries were reported.  The Camden County Fire Marshals Office has the fire under investigation.
