BALTIMORE - As a ceremony to honor the 150th anniversary of the Baltimore City Fire Department was getting underway on July 25 in War Memorial Plaza on Firehouse Expo weekend, tones alerted BCFD units for a building fire in the 5900 block of Bel Air Road.

Personnel on Squad 54 and Truck 30, coming from quarters just a few blocks away, reported heavy fire in the rear of a single-story commercial occupancy. They began making an attack on the fire.

Firefighters attempted an aggressive interior attack but as conditions worsened, incident command ordered defensive operations and struck a second and third alarm.

Multiple hand lines and ladder pipes were used to extinguish the fire, which appeared to involve a building and several trailers.
