Florida Crews Free Trapped Driver

Ocala Fire Rescue firefighters worked to free a trapped SUV occupant after a collision involving a tractor-trailer on I-75 on Wednesday night.

One engine, one rescue and one squad and a battalion chief were dispatched to I-75 at mile marker 356 about 11:50 p.m. The crews found a four-door SUV that slammed into the back of a tractor trailer in a traffic lane. The driver was trapped inside the SUV.

The firefighters worked for 10 minutes to free the driver by cutting and removing the B-post. The driver was taken by helicopter to Shands Hospital in Gainsville.

Firefighters were assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff's Department and the Florida Highway Patrol.
