South Whitehall Township Lehigh County, Fire/Rescue personnel assisting Cetronia Ambulance Corps had a busy beginning to the Labor Day weekend with two rescue/entrapment calls within 5 hours.

The first incident was dispatched at 12:30 PM when two vehicles collided in front of the main entrance to Dorney Park and Wild Water Kingdom, a common accident area during the park season.

Rescue personnel from Cetronia, Greenawalds and Woodlawn Fire Depts. all responded to the incident in Cetronia's District. Each department contributes both manpower and rescue tools to all South Whitehall rescues, with Greenawalds manning the primary rescue vehicle, Rescue 1141.

Fire personnel used multiple hydraulic rescue tools to remove the roof of the most heavily involved automobile while a South Whitehall Police officer aids the effort by holding IV fluids.

In the second incident of the day in Cetronia Fire District 3, two vehicles collided at the intersections of Tilghman St. and Hausman Road. Here again, the roof of the automobile had to be removed in order to safely remove the injured driver.
