New Jersey Crews Tackle Building Blaze

On April 9 at 7:25 a.m., Task Force 5 was dispatched in Gloucester City for a building fire at 236 W. Hudson St.

Battalion 504 reported smoke showing of a three-story, 15 x 75 mixed-use building. The all hands was sounded. The crew of Squad 5-1 secured a water supply on the way in and stretched a one-and-three-quarter-inch hand line.

Collingwood's crew stretched a second hand line to the second floor. Personnel from Ladder 736 from (Westville) set the aerial device up to perform roof operations.

Searches were performed with negative results. Crews found heavy fire conditions on the first floor. It extended to the second..

The building consisted of a food market on the first floor. The owner lived on the second-floor.

The fire was brought under control with no reported injuries. The Gloucester City Fire Department and Camden County Fire Marshals have the fire under investigation.
