Massachusetts Firefighters Battle House Blaze

All occupants were out of the building at the time of the fire.

On March 1 at 8:38, the Malden, Mass. Fire Department responded to a call for a fire on Washington Street. When the fire company arrived they had heavy smoke showing and made a aggressive interior attack but were driven out of the third floor area due to the volume of fire. Ladder 3 opened the roof and the fire company again tried to make an attack but was driven out after about 30 minutes. The fire company was then ordered out of the building. The fire went to three alarms nine engines, four ladders and one rescue company fought the fire. All occupants were out of the building at the time of the fire.
