New Jersey Dwelling Fire Quickly Spreads

Crews reported a floor collapse

On Oct. 19 at 9:30 p.m., crews from Task Force 14 in Haddonfield, N.J. were dispatched for a dwelling fire. p>

Police arrived on location and reported a basement fire with all occupants out. p>

Haddonfield Command arrived and reported a two-and-a-half story wood frame dwelling with heavy smoke showing. Companies led off with a two-and-a-half-inch hand line. p>

Crews reported heavy fire conditions in the basement with fire extending through the walls. The second alarm was sounded. Crews battled limited access to the basement with conditions worsening. p>

Shortly into the job, crews reported heavy fire on the first floor with a floor collapse in the C - D side of the dwelling. At that time evacuation tones were sounded. p>

Command reported heavy fire conditions on the first and second floors and shortly after through the roof. p>

The third Alarm was struck for manpower well into the job. p>

No firefighter injuries were reported. The owner stated he attempted to extinguish the blaze himself prior to calling. p>

The fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshals Office. p>
