Texas Firefighters Contain Smokey Blaze

HALTOM CITY, Texas --

A business fire in Haltom City was contained by 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after flames sent black smoke into the sky, which could be seen from miles away.

Witnesses said the fire began with a series of explosions shortly before 11 a.m. at K.E. Greer Distributing Company in the 4400 block of Old Denton Road. The company reportedly distributes car wash supplies and car polishing and detailing supplies.

The smoke coming from the fire was determined not to be toxic and no evacuations were ordered.

Haltom City police called a Level 3 hazardous materials team from Fort Worth to the scene, NBC 5 reported.
