Pennsylvania Firefighters Respond to House Fire

Crews were able to contain blaze to the rear of the home

On Tuesday Oct. 15, Box Alarm 12 was transmitted at 12:46 p.m. to the 1100 block of Main Street in the borough for a house on fire.

Volunteers from the Akron Volunteer Fire Company (12) along with EMS from Ephrata Ambulance (112) were advised of smoke showing from the second floor of a house. No one was home. Shortly after the advisement from communications, a crew advised the correct address was 1204 Diamond St. They confirmed smoke was showing from the "B" side of the home.

Engine 12-1 laid a 5-inch supply line from the corner of Main Street and Diamond Street into the scene going to work. The crew from Engine 12-1 deployed an 1 3/4-inch line into the structure after forcing entry. They also reported smoke and fire to "C" side of the house. After opening up, crews found fire inside the walls making quick work of the fire and containing it to the rear of the home. Engine Company 15 was also transmitted on the call for manpower during the incident as an engine from Company 35 transferred to Company 12's house.

Crews had the fire marked under control at 1:42 p.m. There were no injuries reported.
