Maryland Head On Crash Entraps Two, Ejects One

Washington County emergency crews responded out for a Head On collision at the intersection of Jefferson Blvd and Eastern Blvd around 23:12 on June 11th.

June 11th- Washington County emergency crews responded out for a Head On collision at the intersection of Jefferson Blvd and Eastern Blvd around 23:12 Friday Night.

Just as Fire & Rescue began dispatch from their single report via 9-1-1, a Washington County Sheriff Deputy rolled up to find a severe accident.

Longmeadow Fire Companies Duty Officer (Lieutenant 27) marked up on the call right after dispatch. Fire & Rescue advised they now had a report from the Sheriff Department that they had one patient in the roadway and patients still in the vehicle. With this report, a second medic unit was started on the call. Engine 3 from Hagerstown FD arrived on scene to find two vehicles head on with one ejection and two entrapments. Command was established upon arrival of Lieutenant 27.

After a quick scene size up by Command 27, a third medic unit was requested along with a second Rescue Squad. At this point Fire & Rescue dispatched Paramedic 75-9 which was at the hospital and started Rescue Squad 10 out of Funkstown to assist. Command was able to report three patient total that were all labeled as Priority 1 patients.

The first entrapment was reported to be extricated at 23:27. The second entrapment was extricated less then 15 minutes later. All three patients were transported to Washington County Trauma Center. One patient is still listed in critical condition at the Trauma Center.

Crews on the call were Longmeadow Fire (Co.27), Juniors Fire (HFD Eng.3), Rescue Squad 75 (Community Rescue), Rescue Squad 10 (Funkstown Co.10), Two Medic Units from Company 75 (CRS), and Paramedic 75-9 (CRS Substation in Maugansville).
