Delaware Crews Respond to MVA

This incident was soon upgraded to a cardiac arrest.

On Tuesday, April 29 at 5:19 p.m., the Odessa Fire Company, along with New Castle County Paramedics and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to the Grandview Farms neighborhood in Odessa, Del. for a motor vehicle crash with a vehicle into a house.

This incident was soon upgraded to a cardiac arrest upon the arrival of 248C (Asst. Chief Boseman). Crews began CPR and applied the Zoll AutoPulse device that OFC has obtained.

Engine 4-6 with 4-8B(Asst. Chief Schulze) aboard took command. and personnel stretched an 1 3/4 inch hand line for protection while crews from B4, Medic 5D, Trooper 4, Rescue 24 performed patient care and structure evaluation. Deputy 24(Deputy Chief McCanney), Assistant Chief Schulze assumed operations.

The patient was transported to Christiana Emergency Room in Stanton, Delaware via BLS B-4 and Medic 5D. While en route the patient's condition improved. BLS-A29(Port Penn Fire Co.) was requested for two additional patients who were not initially on scene.
