Photo Story: Former Cop Accused of Setting Conn. Fire

A former Connecticut State Trooper was charged with setting a Higganum house on fire that required firefighters to pull water from a pond to douse the flames.

Firefighters from nine departments were needed to bring an Oct. 16 fire in Higganum under control.

The fire was reported around 10:30 a.m. and units found a raised ranch fully involved.

Crews from Haddam, East Haddam, Haddam Neck, City of Middletown, Middletown South District, Chester, Killingworth, Deep River and Durham responded to the scene.

A water supply was established from a pond at the base of the home's driveway and dumped into a portable holding tank to supply water to the fire scene.

The home, and detached garage were destroyed.

According to NBCConnecticut.com, a former Connecticut State Trooper set fire to the home, where his brother lived.
