Photo Story: N.Y. Crash Splits Car in Half

Oceanside firefighters found a car split in half after it struck a telephone pole on Long Beach Road.

The driver of a car that split in half after crashing into a telephone pole suffered minor injuries in Oceanside on Nov. 18.

Oceanside firefighters were dispatched to Long Beach Road and Windsor Parkway at 4:06 p.m. 

Assistant Chief Kevin Klein found a two vehicle crash. 

One of the vehicles hit a telephone pole and split in half. The front of the car was on the sidewalk with the rear section in the middle of the street.

The crew of Ambulnace 242A transported the driver of the split car, who suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Crews from Engines 243 and 2442 handled the hazards at the scene. The Nassau County Fire Marshals' Office Haz Mat unit responded to assist with the fuel spill.
