Photo Story: Trucks Collide, Trap Driver in Austria

Nov. 20, 2014
The Alkoven and Polsing volunteer fire departments extricated one driver after two trucks crashed head-on in Alkoven in Upper Austria.

Three people were injured when two trucks collided on Nov. 19 in Alkoven, in Upper Austria.

The Alkoven and Polsing volunteer fire departments were called at 5:28 p.m. to the wreck on highway B 129.

The driver of the small truck was trapped and hydraulic spreaders were used to free him. Because of the heavy rush-hour traffic, firefighters had to work from the shoulder of the road nearly the entire time.

This was the second time in 24 hours that the Fire Brigade of Alkoven crane was required for a heavy rescue on their streets.

The injured were taken to area hospitals.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident.
