Hampered by 10 degree temperatures, and the relentless high wind, the fire spread throughout the old farmhouse style home in Watseka.

A wind-driven fire quickly spread through a Watseka home.

On Feb. 24, around 10 a.m., firefighters found a room on the second floor that was completely consumed and rapidly spreading throughout the second floor.

Watseka Fire Chief Dave Mayotte immediately requested a box alarm, bringing Crescent City, Woodland, and Sheldon units to the scene, and Martinton as a change company.

Hampered by 10 degree temperatures, and the relentless high wind, the fire spread throughout the old farmhouse style home.

Large diameter handlines were immediately deployed to the rear of the structure, and several interior attacks were also attempted.

A decision to place the tower ladder was made, and the attack went defensive. No injuries were reported, and all of the occupants exited the structure safely.
