Fire brigades in Austria were busy after a storm packing strong winds pushed through on March 31.

At the Upper Austrian Fire Brigade headquarters, 982 emergency calls were received. Over 800 were taken in six hours, meaning that brigades were dispatched every 21 seconds.

Gusting winds with speeds up to 75 miles per hour caused extensive damage.

In these photos, the voluntary fire brigade of Alkoven clears fallen trees that blocked roads, damaged roofs and crushed vehicles.
