The four-alarm fire collapsed the roof of the two-story building on A.P. Tureaud Ave.

A four-alarm fire on Aug. 31 destroyed a two-story nightclub in New Orleans.

At 3:05 a.m. the New Orleans Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire in a commercial structure at the intersection of A.P. Tureaud and Aubry.

The first company arrived at 2004 A.P. Tureaud Ave. at 3:09 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the second floor. The manager stated he was the last person to leave and that no one should be inside.

Taking into account the size of the structure and the fire’s potential to spread, a second-alarm was called at 3:30 a.m.

Firefighters attempted an interior attack via an exterior stairway leading to a second floor door, but were quickly pushed back when a flashover occurred.

At this point firefighters realized that the fire had consumed most of the building’s interior and third and fourth alarms were subsequently called.

Firefighters used aerials to pour water into the structure as the building’s roof and structural members gave way.

At the height of the blaze, 24 companies were used to fight this fire and it was declared under control at 4:50 a.m.

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal was called to help New Orleans officials investigate the cause of the fire.
