Fire was reported at the Stratham Tire Store on Manchester Street, in Concord, NH at about 6 a.m. on April 15. The fire spread quickly through the inventory of about 3,000 tires plus all the related combustible material. Firefighters called for a second and then third alarm before sounding a general alarm fire. Firefighters and equipment from miles around were called to the scene. Two hydrants were tapped to defensively fight the fire, but the street is served by only one main and firefighters quickly depleted the water pressure. Thick, black smoke could be seen from nearly 20 miles away.

No injuries were reported and the fire was contained to the original building of origin. Damage was so extensive investigators say they may never be able to tell what caused the blaze that completely destroyed the business.
