The Buzz on Technical Rescue: Bill Seelig on FDNY's Hazmat & Marine Capabilities

Host Bob Duemmel talks with FDNY Deputy Assistant Chief Bill Seelig about hazardous materials and marine and water rescue operations within the confines of New York City.

Seelig serves as chief of the FDNY's Special Operations Command, overseeing rescue companies, squads, marine companies and other units assigned to rescue and hazmat duties.

Chief Seelig describes the various levels of equipment and training to FDNY's unique hazardous material tiered response system. He details hazmat responses from minor to major and how deconamination and mitigation are handled.

Listen as they discuss the expanding responses capabilities of the FDNY's marine units. Seelig details the training and operations of this large water rescue fleet.
