The Leader's Toolbox: Steve Austin on Responder Safety

In this episode of The Leader's Toolbox Dr. Richard B. Gasaway talks with Steve Austin from the Emergency Responder Safety Institute. The Institute is a committee of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association and serves as an informal advisory panel of public safety leaders committed to reducing deaths and injuries to America's emergency responders.

Steve shares how the Institute got started as a call-to-action after a firefighter was killed in a roadway incident in Maryland. He shares some of the initiatives of the Institute and how firefighters can be safer on the scenes of roadway incidents.

Steve and other members of the Institute include are trainers, writers, managers, government officials, technical experts and leaders who through their individual efforts and collective influence in the public safety world can bring meaningful change.
