This month on the Leader’s Toolbox, Dr. Richard Gasaway talks with Battalion Chief Mark Emery of the Woodinville, WA, Fire & Life Safety District on the topic of aggressive strategy.

Chief Emery talks about the differences between strategy and tactics and how it is common that departments focus their training on tactics and overlook the strategic underpinnings that set up those tactics. They also explore the levels responsibility for setting and communicating the strategy and how strategy fits into the progression of a structural fire incident.
