Rhodium Incident Management Suite Utilized During Hurricane Irene Response

Sept. 9, 2011

Greenwood Village, CO – On August 27th, 2011, Hurricane Irene made landfall over Eastern North Carolina’s Outer Banks. As the storm moved northward along the East Coast, many public safety agencies were faced with flooding, damaging winds, and other extreme weather emergencies. Rhodium Incident Management Suite customers found their organizations well prepared for such an event.

“We opened an incident with the Rhodium Incident Management Suite and manned our station with personnel. This program tracked all our responses during this incident and gave us a report of those activities upon completion,” reports Chief John Greene of the Montague Center Fire District.

During the storm, Incident Response Technologies placed their support staff on high alert. Andrew Greene, the company’s Lead Software Engineer, reports that “Rhodium Suite experienced no service interruptions during the storm.” He adds “our systems were never at risk because we have redundancies in place to handle these types of situations.”

Although many software systems are not well suited to learning on the fly, Chief Greene reports that Rhodium Suite was so intuitive that one staff member “was able to effectively operate the suite with very minimum coaching.”

“We had complete accountability of all members, over 8 separate incidents many running concurrently. We also have a report that can help us apply for FEMA reimbursement. I was very impressed with how the program worked.”
