(Lauderdale Lakes, FL) – Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti and Lauderdale Lakes Mayor Barrington A. Russell, Sr. unveil the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services’ decal on Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue # 37 on September 10, 2010.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is the first fire-based EMS provider in Florida and the largest in the U.S. to attain the prestigious CAAS certification for its compliance with national standards of excellence in the delivery of emergency medical services. Sheriff Al Lamberti said, “We’re committed to providing the highest level of service to the residents and visitors of Broward County, and we view this accreditation as another step toward excellence.”

The 40-month-long process included a comprehensive review of policies, procedures and an exhaustive on-site review of the entire BSFR operations by a team of CAAS examiners. Their findings were then reviewed by an independent, impartial panel of commissioners before conferring the accreditation.
