FireView™ to Aid New Orleans Fire Department with Resource Allocation and Building Permitting

Recovery efforts continue for New Orleans in the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In order to better serve the public, New Orleans Fire Department is implementing FireView. The analysis tools within FireView will be used to assess response times as well as help allocate limited resources as efficiently as possible.

As the city works to rebuild, numerous structures are being repaired or coming back online. The Fire Department is using building permit data to assist in tracking these structures geographically as construction progress is made.

Multiple layers of information will be tracked by the New Orleans Fire Department including apparatus records, computer aided dispatch information, incident data, hydrant locations as well as building permit information. Through in depth analysis of each of these the Department will be able to proactively plan for large scale events and also be better prepared for day to day operations.
