Scott Safety and Motorola Solutions have announced the two companies have signed a product development agreement, designed to enhance firefighter safety and accountability.
Central to this agreement is the capability to transmit critical Scott Air-Pak SCBA data, such as air levels and PASS alarm data, over Motorola APX™ Project 25 portable radios. This agreement represents the first step in a collaborative partnership between the companies, to address common customer needs in the areas of fireground communications and accountability.
As technology and market leaders, Scott Safety’s and Motorola’s next-generation products – Air-Pak X3 SCBA and Motorola’s APX 6000 and APX 7000 portable radios, respectively – feature the latest wireless communications and product interface technologies which enable improved access to critical SCBA and user data for incident command through redundancy.
“Firefighters work in demanding environments where clear communications and situational awareness are critical to safety,” said Jeff Emery, NA Fire Service Marketing Manager. “Our work with Motorola reinforces our commitment to driving real innovation in the areas of fireground accountability and communications.”
“This collaboration with Scott Safety is a fundamental step towards providing better integration of fireground equipment within the communications and accountability sector,” said Mike Petersen, Director of ASTRO Subscriber Product Management. “Motorola Solutions understands that an integrated communication solution is critical to the fire market.” Scott Safety’s Air-Pak is the most trusted, durable and easy-to-use SCBA in the fire service industry, with redundant safety features, a low cost of ownership and firefighter-designed and tested components.
The Air-Pak X3 carries on this tradition, while setting a new bar for SCBA performance and technology. The Motorola APX radio pairs to Scott’s Air-Pak X3 SCBA via Mission Critical Wireless. The air tank telemetry is sent over the ASTRO 25 network whenever the firefighter presses their push-to-talk (PTT) button.
This data is displayed on either the Motorola Solutions APX accountability solution or Scott’s accountability solution. Scott and Motorola have already validated the capability to transmit Scott Air-Pak SCBA data through Motorola APX portable radios.
