First Line Technology Takes Partner to Transport Babies

Feb. 11, 2014

CHANTILLY, VA  – First Line Technology, LLC, a manufacturer and provider of Out of the Box Solutions, partnered with Advanced Healthcare Technology (AHT) as the U.S. master distributor of AHT’s BabyPod II to provide medical transport for infants.

The compact BabyPod is made of a lightweight, strong carbon fiber and is lined with a shock-absorbent foam inner layer and First Line believes that it is the best way to transport the world’s most precious patients. Transporting infants in critical condition requires an environment that will keep them warm, safe, and secure.

This is especially important during vehicle and aircraft transport, both of which are susceptible to sharp turns and turbulence. The BabyPod allows for infants who require medical attention during transport or evacuation to be cared for while en route via ambulance, rotary or fixed wing aircraft.

The BabyPod is crash tested to 10g and does not require electrical supply, additional equipment, or a dedicated vehicle so it is a cost-effective solution to the issues that come with the heavy, cumbersome, large, and/or costly transport isolettes currently in use.

“We are proud to be providing our nation’s heroes with a way to better transport our nation’s future at a time when they are most in need,” said First Line Technology Vice President Randy Sakowitz. “The BabyPod allows first responders and medical personnel to transport sick or injured babies and toddlers between medical facilities or during hospital evacuations without unnecessarily exposing them to the elements or the hardships of road or air travel.”

The currently used transport incubators are expensive and require an electrical supply to function. Often, they even require dedicated vehicles for transport, which creates issues during large scale evacuations or unexpected transport.

The BabyPod eliminates the need for this cumbersome equipment, includes a Transwarmer® Mattress (eliminating the need for electricity to keep the infant warm) and is even MRI capable. Best of all, it weighs less than 22 lbs. (10 kg) and can easily be carried by a single person.

“We at AHT are very pleased to be working together with First Line,” said AHT Marketing Director Geoff Lait. “We look forward to further developing with them practices and products for the safe and secure retrieval and transportation of babies across the USA.”

When using the BabyPod with First Line Technology’s AmbuBus® Bus Stretcher Conversion Kit™ up to 18 patients (of any age) can be transported, along with up to six medical professionals and their necessary equipment, creating an effective and efficient solution for mass evacuation and transport of special needs patients, casualties, and others who require non-ambulatory transport.

About AHT:

Advanced Healthcare Technology Ltd. (AHT) was formed around the concept of a new lightweight solution to the problem of transporting infants safely in vehicles. As the norm, heavy full-featured ‘transport incubators’ were used, which due to their weight, posed a significant threat to the safety of the infant patient and that of the ambulance crew, in the event of an accident.

Using cutting-edge technology in crash-survivable design, and incorporating new lightweight materials, AHT launched the BabyPod Infant Transport Device in the early 2000s.
