Fire Service Veteran Becomes New CEO of Tablet Command

June 15, 2017
Tablet Command’s Board of Directors has appointed Van Riviere as president and chief executive officer.

The month of May was very good for Tablet Command. Record growth and great enthusiasm nationally and internationally indicate that things are progressing well for this technology company from California. An ever-increasing number of credible Public Safety professionals have been enhancing their current tool set with Tablet Command.  This was true for Tablet Command’s new CEO, Van Riviere.

As a Battalion Chief for one of California’s busiest and most traditional fire departments, Van was first exposed to the TC platform in 2013 and was openly skeptical about its relevance to the needs of his organization. However, his resistance quickly became advocacy when he saw how Tablet Command could keep pace with dynamic emergency incidents and dramatically improve  accountability, safety, and efficiency for the Stockton Fire Department.  With Van’s influence and diligence, Stockton Fire became Tablet Command’s first enterprise customer.

Van served the Stockton Fire Department from 1997 through 2014, when he retired as a Battalion Chief. Throughout his career, he was active in the development and delivery of Fire Service training with a focus on Urban Search and Rescue (US&R), and Emergency Planning and Management. While serving as a subject matter expert during the 2004 revision of the FIRESCOPE Operational System Description for US&R, and as a member of the curriculum development team for the California US&R system, Van developed a global perspective related to the needs of the fire service.

Following his retirement in 2014, Van joined the Tablet Command team in a customer success and support role.  He enjoyed a great deal of success as his credibility gave him easy access to key decision-makers within Fire Departments. Van speaks a common language with prospective customers and has a deep understanding of the problems faced during critical emergency operations.  This has lead to greater adoption rates for Tablet Command around the country.  Tablet Command’s Board of Directors appointed Mr. Riviere in May as President and Chief Executive Officer.

We look forward to a bright future and an expanding horizon as we serve the needs of fire departments in the United States and around the world.

About Tablet Command:

Tablet Command was founded in 2012 by Andy Bozzo and William Pigeon; two firefighters from the Bay Area who were compelled to design personnel safety and accountability software for tablets when they could not find simple, reliable, and intuitive incident command solutions.
