FBHA, Phenix Technology Host Country Music Night During Firehouse Expo 2017

July 8, 2017
Firefighter Behavioral Health Alliance and Phenix Technology, Inc. Announce Breaking the Silence Country Music Night During Firehouse Expo 2017.

Country Music Superstar Collin Raye will headline an incredible night of Country music on October 18, 2017 at the City Winery in Nashville, TN in support of the FBHA. Ten-time male vocalist of the year nominee, Collin Raye, will lead a trio of great performers including CMA Emerging Artists Kate Hasting Band and up and coming artist Paul Cummings. The event is presented by title sponsor Phenix Technology, Inc. of Riverside, CA.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this event. To have a country legend like Collin Raye, with 24 top ten records and 16 #1 hits, headline this event is a dream. We are also excited that joining Collin Raye are FBHA partners The Kate Hasting Band and Paul Cummings. This is going to be an amazing night of music with the proceeds going to support our firefighters, EMS providers and their families” said Jeff Dill, Founder and retired fire Captain.

Collin Raye is adding the event to his already jam-packed summer tour. Raye shot to fame in 1991 with his hit “Love, Me.” He went on to stop the charts with such incredible hits as “On the Verge,” “What the Heart Wants,” “Every Second Counts,” and “If I Were You.” He was nominated as male vocalist of the year five times by both the CMA and ACM.

The Kate Hasting Band has joined forces with the FBHA to help bring attention to the critical need for Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) behavioral health awareness. The trio made up of lead vocalist Kate Hasting, lead vocalist and guitarist Josh Beale, and drummer Cam Smith, they present a “traditional meets pop country” sound that few acts have mastered.

Paul Cummings is not only an up and coming country star, but he is also a firefighter. In 2009, he released his “Firefighter Song” about a firefighter dying in the line of duty. In 2012, following a fatal ambush of two firefighters in his home state of New York, Cummings hit the road with other country music acts to raise awareness about the risks facing firefighters. After meeting with FBHA founder Jeff Dill, he decided to write the song “We Remember” that acknowledges PTSD suffered by first responders.

Proceeds from the night will be used to support the FBHA. The FBHA provides behavioral health workshops to fire departments and EMS providers across the United States that focus on behavioral health awareness with a strong drive towards suicide prevention and promoting resources available to firefighters/EMS and their families. Specific behavioral health workshops include: “An Internal Size-Up,” which educates personnel on how to look for signs and symptoms of behavioral health problems, communication, confidentiality, and roles/responsibilities and “Saving Those Who Save Others,” which is a workshop focused on suicide prevention and awareness. Additional workshops are directed at spouses/partners and children of firefighters/EMS. FBHA’s sole goal is to promote good mental health to the men and women of the fire service/EMS and their families as well as make a significant difference in reducing the numbers of firefighters and EMS responders who are turning to suicide to ease their pain.

In 2017, Phenix Technology, Inc. joined forces along with Identifire Safety Products in supporting the FBHA. Together, the three created the Breaking the Silence campaign designed around drawing attention to the need for increased behavioral health awareness for firefighters and EMS responders.

“We have to have a dialogue about the mental health of our brothers and sisters. Too many are suffering and it is time for true, effective actions to be taken. We are honored to have the opportunity to work with Jeff Dill and his organization to help bring awareness to an often overlooked issue. We are excited about this Country Music Night that will bring first rate entertainment to the music capitol of the world and raise funds for this incredibly worthy cause” said Angel Sanchez, Jr., Phenix Technology, Inc.’s Director of Global Operations.
