Nov. 16 -- DETROIT - The body of Michael Dwyer, 55, who is the son of Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer, was found inside the remains of a burned-out house - 19 days after firefighters arrived to tackle the blaze.
The younger Dwyer's body was found Wednesday in the home on Bramell Street near Puritan Avenue on Detroit's West Side, according to the FOX 2 news station.
The fire occurred on Oct. 26.
Detroit fire officials say the interior of the building collapsed in the blaze and the structure was too unsafe to do a thorough search.
"There was no way to enter to even walk to do a search, and do a search of the interior of the building," Detroit Fire Commissioner Eric Jones told the news station.
Jones said they search the areas they can when something like this happens, using flashlights and other equipment.
Some media reports described the home as being considered vacant when the fire call occurred.
Authorities discovered Dwyer's body this week when they were investigating a missing person's complaint linked to the home on Bramell.
